So who really calls the shots when the three Kapoors shoot together? Mirror gets a look in.
Ranbir Kapoor has been busy shooting Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharm with his parents in a defunct mill compound in the city.
Mirror spent three hours with the actor and his parents, as they went through a gamut of expressions for a crucial sequence that involved a bunch of kids as well.
Rishi and Neetu play cops in the film, and we managed to capture them in police uniform for the very first time. Ranbir was sporting a look inspired by Amitabh Bachchan in Lawaaris (including the unbuttoned shirt and a shock of chest hair).
In between the shots, Ranbir would park himself on any dusty chair and ruminate. At times, he would just pick up his phone and go for a walk. But there were also times when he would crack jokes with the team and share pictures and messages with his mother.
Interestingly, despite Ranbir’s superstar status, it is his dad Rishi who calls the shots and keeps everyone on their toes. In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Ranbir had said that at home, Rishi pretty much has the last word on everything… but only because he and his mother let him do so!
The scenes had Ranbir engage with his parents in an emotional conversation and at times, fool around with the kids – almost 15 to 20 of them all aged seven to eight years or so.
With the children involved in several shots, we found Ranbir helping them whenever they looked lost or didn’t know what exactly to do.
As for the scenes between Rishi and Neetu, Abhinav would ask Rishi if they had got the perfect shot, sometimes walking across to Kapoor Sr and telling him what he thought was amiss.
Coming to Ranbir, after every shot, he would pull a hood over his head and look into the camera in his unmistakeable style. In his final shot, Ranbir delivered a moist-eyed dialogue. It was a perfect take that had Abhinav grinning quietly.
And then the climax was filmed – a hard core action sequence choreographed by action director Shyam Kaushal.
Apparently, Abhinav is very happy to be able to work with the Kapoor clan in his first ever production. The film has Javed Jaffrey in a negative role and the music has been scored by Lalit Pandit. Most of the songs have already been shot with Pallavi Sharda and Ranbir Kapoor.
