Ranbir is such a good actor that when he performs, it looks like he is singing the song (ADHM title track). I think he is simply exceptional in it. The entire first ‘mukhda’ of the song is just held on his eyes. He is singing and the entire expression, the mood of the song is perfectly reflected through his eyes. I messaged Ranbir multiple times saying that in my life I haven’t worked with an actor like him and that his talent is unparalleled. It is really brilliant for an actor to be able to hold a song for nearly 45 seconds, carry forward a full mukhda in one shot and express the entire emotion just through the eyes.

I met Ranbir on the sets after many years. He is adorable. He was assisting Chintu uncle on AALC. Now we are working together. We got along like a house on fire. He has an amazing sense of humour.

I must credit Ranbir for making fantastic choices. A lot of people say that his films have not worked, but I stand by his choices because that’s what I would do too. Those choices you make define who you are. He is a commercial hero, but his choices show he is confident as an actor. You have to understand that an actor’s confidence gets shaken with every failure and that’s when self-conviction is important. Because there will be 10,000 people around you who are telling you to do this and do that. But you have to do what you believe is right for you.

Ranbir is passionate about movies, and I knew quite early on that his interest and love lay in films. If not an actor, he'd still have been connected with films in some way. Whereas I am a spontaneous actor, Ranbir combines the best of both, method and spontaneous acting, and, what's best, he's got his head firmly screwed on his shoulders.

I worked very little with him, only for one day in PK. He is an actor I can’t take my eyes off. He is very intense, and a fantastic actor. I don’t think anything will stop him. We shouldn’t harp on the one or two flops he has had. He can’t be blamed for a film’s failure. For the next generation, he is the undoubted star.

He is a very good human being and will not harm a thing. He is quiet, someone who internalises all his processes, not a guy to come and announce to the world how he is feeling, whether he is happy or sad. He cares deeply, says very little, backs his feelings with action more than words. A man of huge integrity, a man not fearful of making hard calls. He is a brave kid. Since his childhood, he was a kid who always wanted to win. I think acting has given him a mask that he can hide behind. Despite who he has become today, no one really knows who he is. And it's beautiful as all that angst and energy in him is hidden behind that mask and at least he knows a way of addressing the world and coming face to face with it. Deep down, he is a very different man. He takes his legacy very seriously. He is this boy of Bollywood, the grandson of Raj Kapoor, son of Rishi Kapoor. He may not agree to the pressure, but it's a pressure he lives with and has learnt to mask. In Saawariya, he relied less on instinct and more on preparation. He knew that the world would be there to grab him, pull him down if they have to, so he came polished. Sanjay Leela Bhansali moulded him very well for his first movie and said, 'Just go and express yourself.' And that's what he did. Today, he has no sense of fear inside of himself.
